Hi! My name is Mariana Contreras Myers and I am a 6th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I am also the Advisory and SFA Facilitator in which I can support teachers to implement the reading program.
I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley with my parents and two younger sisters. Early on in my life, I knew I wanted to teach so when I completed high school, I attended California State University Northridge and received a BA in Liberal Studies, with a minor in Literacy, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I started working at Bert Corona Charter School in 2013 and I love it!
I enjoy staying home watching some of my favorite shows on Netflix, baking and decorating cupcakes, and browsing through Pinterest for fun classroom ideas. I also like outdoor activities such as relaxing at the beach, playing sports, and listening to music, especially if it’s music by Mariah Carey. I love going to the movies to watch any new film that catches my attention and I especially enjoy spending time with the people that I love. When I have some free time, I enjoy coloring, reading, completing word searches, and watching funny videos on youtube. I got married to my amazing husband, Kevin, on January 16, 2016 and I am loving every minute of it. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people and I am so lucky to be able to do what I love for a living.
I am really excited about life and can’t wait for all the adventures that await!
